Treating Your House For Fleas

We always recommend calling a professional exterminator if you want your house and yard to be all treated in one day.

Otherwise you can go to your local hardware store and get flea spray for use in your home. I say spray and NOT THE BOMB because the bomb leaves chemical residue all over your belongings. The goal is to get underneath your furniture and into your floor coverings - NOT on all of your stuff.

- Pick up all the bedding your pet sleeps on, dog beds, towels, rugs, mats, YOUR comforter, pillow cases - wash them in hot water.

***** IF YOU HAVE REPTILES, AMPHIBIANS, OR FISH - EXTRA PRECAUTIONS ARE NECESSARY WHEN USING THESE TYPES OF FLEA/TICK PRODUCTS IN YOUR HOME.

***** USE GLOVES, USE A MASK, AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PRODUCT YOU ARE GOING TO USE FOR YOUR FLEA TREATMENT.

- Starting in the back of each room open the windows to allow the house to vent.

- Spray the very back corner of the room and continue to spray in a low, wide, zigzag motion as you back yourself out of the room and close the door. Make sure to focus underneath furniture, in the carpet fibers, the baseboards, area rugs, especially the corners of the rooms. Once you close the door, lay a towel to block the space underneath the door.

THIS ROOM IS NOW OFF LIMITS FOR PETS AND HUMANS for a minimum of 8 hours.

- Once 8 hours is over, you must vacuum and steam clean all of the carpets, couches, couch pillows, and area rugs.

IF YOU HAVE AN OPEN FLOOR PLAN AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO SECTION OFF YOUR HOME AND KEEP YOUR FAMILY AND PETS IN THE OTHER SECTION - YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE FOR 8 HOURS.

Our Flea Bath includes a warm double shampoo with All Natural Flea & Tick Shampoo. We will meticulously comb out your pet’s coat with a flea comb. We then lather their coat up with the Flea/Tick Shampoo again and let it sit on the skin and coat for 5 additional minutes before rinsing thoroughly. We will completely brush out the coat and remove all mats, trim the nails, clean the ears, and towel and cage dry your dog. We do not use a force dryer to blow and fluff the coat as we do in our regular bath as we do not want to blow any flea or flea eggs around the grooming salon.

When you call to schedule your pet for a Flea Bath, keep in mind that we will want to schedule your pet appropriately to ensure other pets do not pick up fleas. You may also want to consider your own schedule in the event that you wanted to take the time we have your pet to clean the house.

When your pet has a flea infestation it is safe to say your other pets and your household/yard has a flea infestation also. To ensure that you get rid of ALL the fleas, and to avoid your pets being re-infested once they clear the fleas, it is completely necessary to treat your house.
